A first in solar thermal technology

Inspired by nature and driven by technology – bionics in beautiful proportion

We have developed a completely new generation of solar collectors that deliver a greater output without increasing manufacturing costs and that in their design conform to the aesthetic and harmonious proportions of the golden ratio of the Renaissance.

Conventional solar collectors contain an absorber, consisting of a sheet panel with a dark-blue coating that absorbs insolation and converts it into heat. Pipes are usually arranged underneath this sheet panel, in the shape of a harp (think of the musical instrument) or as a meander (snaking like a garden hose). These pipes are joined to the sheet panel with spot welds. The heat is transferred via these spot welds to the pipes, through which a water-antifreeze mixture circulates.

What is NEW:

The absorber panel in our new solar collectors features vein-like channels – similar to those found in leaves – through which the mixture can flow. Through this mimicry of nature optimum circulation of the liquid through the collector is achieved.
Now imagine two panels sandwiched together. Thanks to our new manufacturing process we are able to create hollow, bionic channels between the panels. These channels take on the role of the conventional (harp or meander shaped) pipes. Consequently, heat is exchanged over the entire surface, since the water-antifreeze mixture inside the channels flows directly along the absorber panel. This replaces the spot-transfer to a separate pipe, i.e. harp or meander, resulting in a significant improvement in output.
